To celebrate the 209th anniversary of Hamlet at Kronborg Castle, HamletScenen has joined forces with Sittingsuits and artist Birgitte Krüger to create a unique collaboration. The result is the Hamlet Edition limited release of only 100 wearable artworks.
For more than two centuries, Kronborg has been the stage of the world’s oldest Hamlet tradition, a story carried forward generation after generation. This new edition brings that legacy into the present, turning cultural heritage into something you can literally wrap around yourself.
At the center of the launch stands Denmark’s legendary actress Ghita Nørby, 90 years young, who embodies the spirit of the project. With her deep connection to Kronborg and the theatre, she reminds us that heritage is not only the past we inherit, but also the future we create:
“Hamlet at Kronborg is what we stand upon. We must never forget that.”
Each Hamlet Edition features artwork by Birgitte Krüger, whose studio is housed within the castle itself, connecting the design directly to place, story, and tradition.
This is a collector’s item, a symbol of continuity, and a tribute to art, theatre, and history, made to be worn, used, and kept alive.
Original artwork by Birgitte Krüger, oil on canvas, 100 × 150 cm. Created at Kronborg Castle as the foundation for the wearable design.
