Art and function meet again in our latest collaboration with Özlem Thompson.
Sittingsuits presents WHITE LOTUS, the third Artist Edition created with British Turkish artist Özlem Thompson. This edition began during her reading of The Brothers Karamazov, where themes of existence and quiet introspection informed the artwork. The collaboration continues our shared interest in bringing contemporary art into functional formats where design, comfort and creative expression meet.
WHITE LOTUS has been translated into a limited edition Sittingsuit produced in 200 pieces worldwide. This release follows two earlier collaborations with Thompson and strengthens her role within the Sittingsuits Artist Edition series.
WHITE LOTUS, 102×76 cm, Acrylic on Linen, 2023
Özlem Thompson works from an artistic foundation shaped by science and intuition. Before dedicating herself fully to painting she studied biology and botany. These fields continue to influence her approach to form, structure and visual rhythm. Organic shapes, natural symbolism and abstracted ecosystems appear throughout her work.
Her studio is located in Belsize Park, London in the same building once used by Mondrian. The setting reflects her practice. Color, movement and quiet focus shape each piece. Her influences span expressionism and surrealism and her visual language remains distinctly her own with bold, organic and clear compositions.
Thompson’s work has been shown internationally and is held in private collections worldwide. She has contributed to public and cultural projects including the Platinum Jubilee celebrations for Queen Elizabeth II. Her pieces are collected by performers, creatives and art focused audiences around the world.
